Ex-boyfriend sets woman on fire!

A nurse was set ablaze by her ex boyfriend in Vijayawada, died.

The 24-year-old victim worked at a Covid care center and has been identified as Chinnari was burnt alive by her ex boyfriend at Hanumanpet in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh late on Monday Night. While the woman died at the spot of incident, the man too sustained 80 per cent burn injuries while setting the woman on fire, also succumbed to his burns while undergoing treatment at Government General Hospital in Guntur.

G Nagabhushanam, 25, attacked Chinnari while she was returning home after work. Nagabhushanam followed her and both had a heated argument. From the past few months Chinnari decided to end her 4 year long relationship with him under pressure from her parents, despite Nagabhushanam allegedly continued to stalk her. About two months ago, Chinnari along with her parents lodged a harassment case against him with the Governor pet police.

“It was evident that he came prepared to kill her. During the course of argument, he took out a bottle of petrol he had brought with him, poured it over and set her ablaze. The woman caught hold of him tightly so that he could not escape after killing her. Listening to the cries, neighbors rushed there and separated them before dousing the fire.” M Ramesh, Assistant Commissioner of Police said.

Governor-pet circle inspector MVS Nagaraju said, an FIR for murder has been filed under section 302 of the IPC against Nagabhushanam initially but now another case has been registered under Section 174 of criminal Procedure Code to investigate if Nagabhushanam’s death was a suicide.
