Fans Slam BCCI for ‘Thank You’ tweet on Virat Kohli

#ShameOnBCCI has been one of the top trending hashtags on Twitter

The BCCI is on the receiving end of criticism from fans on social media after Virat Kohli was replaced as the white ball captain with Rohit Sharma on Wednesday.

The announcement was expected ever since Virat Kohli stepped down as T-20 skipper after the World Cup in UAE last month.

Kohli failed to win a single ICC trophy in his four–year tenure as the limited overs captain.

The Indian Cricket board’s decision to hand over the leadership to Rohit Sharma hasn’t gone down well with certain fans.

#ShameOnBCCI has been one of the most trending hashtags in India on Twitter since the announcement.

The BCCI was once again slammed after they thanked Virat Kohli for his service as the ODI captain. “A leader who led the side with grit, passion and determination, Thank you, captain.” BCCI tweeted.

Kohli took over the captaincy from MS Dhoni back in 2017. He led the men in blue in 95 ODI’s and won 65 of them with a winning percentage of 70.43.

Under Virat’s captaincy, India played in the champions trophy and the 2019 World Cup but lost in the final to Pakistan and was eliminated in the semi-final of the ODI in England.

They were also eliminated from the T-20 World Cup in the super 12s stage which also contributed to the BCCI’s decision to replace him as the white ball captain.

Rohit Sharma has led the team in 10 ODI’s out of which the team has won eight. India has also won the Asia Cup under his captaincy.

Rohit is the captain of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, under his captaincy the team has a total of 5 IPL titles which is the most by any captain.
