Farmers protest begins at Jantar Mantar, Centre says ready for talks on farm bills. Around 200 protesting farmers have gathered together at Jantar Mantar.


On Thursday, Farmers began their protest at Jantar Mantar, over the three farm laws implemented by the Government. Around 200 protesting farmers have gathered together at Jantar Mantar. They travelled from the sit-in protest site at Singhu Border in buses with a police escort. The protest started at 11 am and will continue till pm. Heavy police deployment has been issued at the protest side whereas Delhi police have also issued an advisory for today's protest. Meanwhile, traffic movements are also closed on Chatta Rail to Subash Marg (both carriageways closed), Shanti marg to Subash Marg, Subhash park to Shanti van 1 lane is opened.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader, Rakesh Tikait has also appealed to authorities that roads near protest sites will be opened for the locals. According to the statement of Narendra Singh Tomar, Agriculture Minister, "The Centre is ready to talk to the protesting farmers. We spoke to them in the past as well. The Narendra Modi led Government is a farmer-friendly Government," he said. Meanwhile, the protest started on Monday and is scheduled to conclude on August 13.they have also received permission to protest till August 9.
