First "Oxygen Express" with 7 tankers arrives in Maharashtra from Visakhapatnam

The special train carried seven tankers of liquid medical oxygen, of which three were unloaded at Nagpur Junction Railway Station at 8:10 pm on Friday while other four were unloaded in Nashik at 10:25 am on Saturday.


The first "Oxygen Express" train that had left Visakhapatnam on Thursday arrived in Nagpur of Maharashtra on Friday evening. The special train carried seven tankers of liquid medical oxygen, of which three were unloaded at Nagpur Junction Railway Station at 8:10 pm on Friday while other four were unloaded in Nashik at 10:25 am on Saturday.

The train carried 100 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in Visakhapatnam. The Central Railway said in a statement that Railways successfully ran the first Oxygen Express from Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai to Visakhapatnam and back to Nashik. It also said ramps were constructed at a very short notice and the ramp at Kalamboli was built within 24 hours.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted about the Oxygen Express on his Twitter account along with a video of the train that was being prepared to pull out from the RINL facility. Maharashtra reported 773 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours which is the highest fatality in a single day and reported 66,836 new cases during 24 hours.
