Gas Leak: 4 workers died in Haryana

Four workers died after inhaling leaked toxic gas…


At least four people were killed whereas two fell unconscious as they inhaled a toxic gas while cleaning the tank at a factory in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, the police informed. The incident took place on Wednesday. The four deceased were migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh. Police also informed that the condition of one of the two unconscious workers is serious. 

 

The incident happened as they were cleaning a waste tank at the unit located in an industrial area in Rohad of Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh. Police said the factory manufactures gas kits for vehicles, according to news agency PTI. 

 

District Collector Shakti Singh said, “Labourers had gone down a 5 feet deep tank to clean it. It is suspected that due to this four have died and two are serious, a further probe is underway” reported the news agency ANI. 

 

The Jhajjar district administration has set out for an inquiry, which is supposed to be conducted by a joint committee of officials including officials from departments of fire services and industrial safety. 

 

Superintendent of Police Wasim Akram informed that a worker had entered the waste tank to clean it and when he did not make it out the others went in to look for him, but all were affected it. Later all six of them had to be pulled out and were taken to hospital in serious conditions, where four died. 

 

“Bodies have been removed and taken to hospital. Four people are dead and 2 are in ICU. Families are being contacted an investigation will be conducted once we receive complaints,” said Wasim Akram.
