Global Covid-19 deaths surpass 5 million as Delta variant spreads across the world

More than half of the world's population is still not vaccinated and they need to receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to Our World in Data.

2.5 million Covid-19 deaths were reported in over a year but the next 2.5 million deaths were reported in 236 days, according to the analysis of Reuters. More than half of all the deaths across the world that were reported on a seven-day average, were recorded in the United States, India, Russia, Brazil and Mexico, reported Reuters. An average of 8,000 deaths were recorded daily over the last week worldwide that accounted for five deaths every minute.
