Gold worth lakhs of rupees seized at Chennai airport...
The custom department unit, Air intelligence unit has seized gold stripes nearly 792 grams worth Rs 39 lakhs and arrested one man from Chennai airport that he was carrying in two trolley bags on Monday.
As per the information to the intelligence department, a man who arrived from Dubai by AI-906 was arrested by the custom officials after the examination at the checked-in Baggage point under the custom act 1962.
Following the incident the custom department seized nearly 2,234 grams of gold in past few days. This incident is reported as the fifth case of smuggling of gold.
