Curfew in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Eid


A day after several areas in Kashmir witnessed a big rush and gathering of group of people ahead of Eid, curfew along with restrictions was imposed in the valley on Wednesday because of safety and precautions, according to the officials.

Security forces have blocked many roads and erected barricades at many places in the city as per the scenario they won't allow to make huge rush on road and other district headquarters to stop unnecessary gathering of people during the covid-19, officials also said. Due to surge of amid covid-19 cases, Markets have been shut and public transport is off the roads. The officials also allegedly that the restrictions were tightened on Wednesday, when presence of crowd in several places of the valley for Eid shopping was witnessed.

The UT first curfew was supposed to end at 7 am on May 3, but it was extended in the twin capitals of Jammu and Srinagar besides Budgam and Baramulla till May 6 as per the situation of highly tough time of covid-19 cases. The authorities in other districts of the Kashmir valley also ordered for second curfew extension till May 10. The last restrictions were again imposed till May 17.
