Government makes e-Visa mandatory for Afghan nationals to travel to India

The government has introduced an e-Emergency X-Misc visa to streamline the application process.


The central government on Wednesday made e-Visa mandatory for all Afghanistan nationals who wish to travel to India citing the evolving security situation in Afghanistan. The government has introduced an e-Emergency X-Misc visa to streamline the application process. 

The Centre also declared the visas that were issued earlier to the Afghan nationals, who are not currently in India, stand invalid with immediate effect. The government added it was decided based on the reports that surfaced indicating that certain passports of Afghan nationals have been misplaced.

According to the government release, the Afghan nationals who wish to travel to India, may apply for e-Visa at "www.indianvisaonline.gov.in". Earlier this month, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that a new category of electronic visa has been introduced to fast-track the application process of visa for entry into the country.
