Govt Mandates 7 Days Quarantine For International Travellers

New SOP will be valid from January 11


Amid the surge in the cases of COVID and Covid-19 led to the New Variant Omicron. The cases are at their peak. On Friday, the Government made a 7-day home quarantine mandatory for all International passengers arriving in India.

 

According to the statement, the new Government circular read, "This will be followed by an RT -PCR test on the eight day. The new Standard operating procedure (SOP) will be valid from January 11, 2022, until further order."  It also mentions that people willing to travel to India will have to provide complete and factual information in a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha Portal. 

 

As per the information, the passengers arriving from abroad also need to carry a negative RT-PCR report for Covid-19. Which should not be older than 72 hours. Post arrival at the Indian airport, travellers will have to go for a seven-day home quarantine and have to undergo with Covid RT-PCR test on the eighth day.

 

If the result appears negative, they will be advised to self-monitor their health for the next seven days. If positive with Covid then the reports will be sent to Genomic testing at INSACOG Labs network, and they will have to adhere to the standard protocols of Isolation.

 

According to the Union Health Ministry data update on Friday, India reported a single-day spike in Covid cases above one lakh which took the overall tally to 3,52,26,386 which includes 3,007 infections of Omicron.
