Gujarat Government defers School Reopening.

Gujarat Government cancels school reopening.

Gujarat Government on Friday, withdrew its decision of school and college reopening on November 23. The sudden spike in covid cases in National Capital, New Delhi while a significant inflation in daily cases curve abstained the government from giving green signal to such a risky act.  With the country caught in midst of third wave post festive season, any negligence or impulsive act on government's of citizens' part could further worsen the situation.

The new dates for reopening of schools and colleges haven't been intimidated yet. Gujarat Govt in the start of the month, announced its decision of reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12 and colleges for final year students from November 23 in sigh of relief obtained after witnessing the downfall in rising cases and healing recovery rates. But this sudden increase in Covid cases, forced the authorities o roll back the decision in welfare of students.

The State Education Minister, Bhupendrasinh Chaudasma had forwarded this announcement on November 11, 2020. CMO Gujrat tweeted in the evening, "The reopening of school and colleges is postponed as of now, in wake of the current covid situation." It is getting really difficult to reconcile with the current pandemic situation which tumbles the government policies and economy every changing hour. The slight ups are followed by deep downs to climb back. State Governments have also mandated RTPCR tests before any teacher or student leads to school.

Meanwhile, Haryana had also scrapped the idea of physical schooling after 150 students tested positive for Covid. Maharashtra had also taken the step to reopen schools and colleges but had postponed the same till December 31 owing to the current covid crisis in the city. The Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad renounced that the decision rests in the hands of local bodies for cities other than Mumbai.  Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal and Karnataka are some of the few states who hadn't made any claims on reopening of schools and colleges.
