Haryana Invokes ESMA, Strike Ban For 6 Months By Health Care Workers

Due to Surge In Covid-19


Amid Rise in cases of Covid-19 and the deadly virus which has been spreading rapidly throughout the Country. The Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij, invokes ESMA act in Haryana State and said, "The ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act) has been implemented in Haryana.

 

"He said, "Now Healthcare workers will not be able to go on strike for 6 months. This step has been taken after a group of doctors went on strike to obstruct the prevention of Corona."

 

As per the information, this essential services Maintenance act has been implemented for six months. Also, this has been implemented for any kind of strike by Health Care Workers. This decision came after the statewide protest demanding the creation of a special cadre for specialist doctors in the state, restoration of 40% reservation policy, and stopping direct recruitment to the posts of the senior medical officer.

 

After witnessing a spike in the cases of Covid-19, the Haryana state Disaster management authority (HSDMA) issued an order stating, "large congregations like all kind of public meeting, rallies, protests, Dharnas, etc shall be prohibited in the state. 

 

These restrictions were also applicable in the eight new Districts namely, Sirsa, Rewari, Jind, Fatehabad, Mahendergarh, Kaithal, Bhiwani, and Hisar in the Haryana State.

 

With the surge in cases, the State government and the other departments are taking their respective measures to curb the infection level and implement restrictions in the state.
