Hazrat Nizamuddin-Madgaon Rajdhani Express derails in Maharashtra tunnel; all passengers safe

The official said that the front wheel of the locomotive of Rajdhani Express derailed inside Karbude tunnel which is located between Ukshi and Bhoke stations in Ratnagiri region of the Konkan Railway.


Delhi-Goa Rajdhani Express that had departed from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and was on its way to Madgaon in Goa derailed inside a tunnel in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra on early Saturday morning. Fortunately, all passengers are safe and no casualties have been reported so far, an official said. According to TOI, the derailment occurred inside Karbude tunnel which is approximately 325 kms from Mumbai, around 4:15 am due to a boulder that had fallen on the tracks, a spokesperson of the Konkan Railway, which operates the route said. The official said that the front wheel of the locomotive of Rajdhani Express derailed inside Karbude tunnel which is located between Ukshi and Bhoke stations in Ratnagiri region of the Konkan Railway. Soon, a rail maintenance vehicle (RMV) and an accident relief medical van (ARMV) from Ratnagiri along with Konkan Railway officials had left for the accident site to clear the line.
