Health Minister: Maharashtra needs 3 crore covid vaccine doses per month

The shortage of vaccines has become a major problem in Maharashtra, due to which only two to three lakh people are being vaccinated in a day whereas the state can vaccinate 15 lakh people, daily.


On Monday, Health Minister Rajesh Tope said, the Maharashtra state required three crore vaccine doses per month to immunize the eligible people of Maharashtra as early as possible. Addressing PTI, Mr.topi says, the state can provide vaccines to 15lakh people on daily basis, but for now, only two or three people get vaccinated due to a shortage in vaccine doses.

Before Three days, the state has seven lakh vaccine doses, three days ago but the stock used to get finished at the end of the day, The state has received 3.60 crore vaccine doses so far in which the state government has also purchased 25 lakh doses directly adds state government. As per the official data till Sunday,3,65,25,990 vaccines were allotted in the state. Looking at the shortage when the question had been raised, relating to the paucity of the vaccine, Mr.tope said, the government is working on it. In addition, he added if the doses are supplied as soon as possible, the whole eligible people of Maharashtra can be vaccinated as early as possible. Till Sunday, Maharashtra reported 8,535 new cases of coronavirus.
