Health Minister volunteers for Covaxin trails.
The Health Minister of Haryana Anil Vij volunteered on Friday for the trial dose of Covaxin which is a potential coronavirus vaccine being produced in India. This also makes him the first volunteer in the state for the third phase trail of the vaccine.
The 67 year old senior BJP leader made an announcement regarding this on Thursday when he tweeted “I will be administered a trail dose of Coronavirus vaccine Covaxin a Bharat Biotech product tomorrow at 11 am at Civil hospital, Ambala Cantt under the supervisions of a team of doctors from PGI Rohtak and Health Department”.
Covaxin is being developed primitively by Bharat Biotech with Indian Council of medical Research (ICMR). They reported that Phase I and Phase II interim analysis are complete and now they are initiating trails for Phase III. On Monday Bharat Biotech said that the Covaxin’s Phase III trials will involve 26,000 volunteers across 25 centers in India and all these trails will be conducted in partnership with ICMR.
