Heavy rain leads to flooding in few districts of Maharashtra, train services partially suspended. Two teams of NDRF deployed while a coast guard was also instructed for a helicopter to airlift people in need.


On Thursday, Around hundreds of people were stranded as water flowing through the Vashishti river gushed into the nearby areas. Whereas two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed while a coast guard was also instructed for a helicopter to airlift people in need. According to the statement by the local administration, around 5,000 residents have been stranded in chiplun while a red alert has also been issued in the district. Meanwhile, several villagers in Konkan lost communication. 

Meanwhile, Train services on Konkan Railway were also partially suspended. According to the statement, Baban Ghatge, Deputy General Manager said "Eight trains have been regulated due to disruption of the route." According to officials, these trains are either rerouted or short terminated or cancelled. 

Nidhi Choudhari, Raigad district collector said," There is a flood-like situation at Mahad. Savitri river is flowing over danger level and people have been evacuated from low-lying areas. We have teams from the coast guard, and NDRF to assist us in evacuation. So, 500 people have been moved to safety."
