Heavy rainfall in Kerala, IMD issues red alert for 5 districts. Heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in several parts of the state.


On Saturday, Heavy rainfall was observed in Kerala. Majorly in the south and central region. Heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in several parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it issued a Red alert for the pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts of Kerala. Whereas an orange alert has also been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. 

 

As per the information,  the water level in some rivers is expected to rise and certain dams are likely to overflow. Whereas the Kerala Chief Minister said that the IMD has also warned of widespread heavy rain in the state due to the low-pressure area formed over the Arabian sea.
