The festival of colours is upon us again! Yes, it's Holi. The word "Holi" sprouted from the word "Holika", who was the evil sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu. A bonfire is lit on the eve of Holi, signifying the Holika Dahan and that is when the celebrations begin. 

 

There is a sense of cheer and celebration in the air as people prepare to get together to dance to Holi songs, smear each other with colors. We love this festival, not only for the bevy of colours, we love to be immersed with but also for the mouth - watering delicacies unique to this occasion.

 

Contemplating nearly each state of the nation has a delicacy devoted to Holi, foodies have a plethora of choices to select from - be it gujiya, malpua, dahi -  bhalle, gulab - jamun, phirni or thandai. It is very important to decide our festive meals with care. Irregular meals can cause an imbalance in blood sugar levels of people with diabetes. 

 

Avoid diabetes from becoming a spoilsport during your Holi festivities with these yummy recipes that are safe for diabetics too! Listed here are some healthy recipes for you : 

 

1. Makhana Thandai (Method) 

 

* Add makhana and elaichi in a pan and roast them for 5-8 minutes. 

 

* Put makhana and elaichi in a blender and mix it to a make a effective powder after which sieve it. 

 

* Take a glass of milk in a blender, add the sieved powder, sugar free powder and rose petals. 

 

* Mix it nicely. Now use kesar and badam for garnishing. 

 

2. Coconut Thandai ( Method ) 

 

* Whisk coconut milk and all the other ingredients together ( rose petals and saffron) with the help of a blending machine. 

 

* Add saunf powder to it as a natural sugar sweetener. 

 

* Now, in a heavy bottom pan, out together this mixture and bring it to a boil. 

 

* Stir till the mixture has reduced a little in quantity. 

 

* Now pour the thandai mixture in a glass and allow it to set in the refrigerator. 

 

* Served chilled after garnishing with some rose petals and saffron. 

 

3. Khus Khus Pudding ( Method)

 

* Grind the poppy seeds with brown rice and a bit of milk to kind a clean paste. 

 

* Heat 2 cups of milk in a non-stick pan and convey it to boil. 

 

* Now add the paste, cinnamon powder, and stir continuously for 4-5 minutes. 

 

* The brown rice and poppy seeds are totally cooked. 

 

* Add cardamom powder, stir nicely and prepare dinner for one other 2-3 minutes.

 

* Serve sizzling garnished with slices of almond and pistachios. 

 

4. Moong Dal Dhokla ( Method ) 

 

* Wash the moong dal and soak in sufficient water for 3-4 hours. Drain the water and grind the moong dal to make a paste. 

 

* The batter must be pouring in consistency like dosa batter. Add besan and curd to it. 

 

* Cover it for 2-3 hours. 

 

* Add salt and turmeric powder and blend nicely. 

 

* Grease a dhokla pan and maintain water for boiling within the pan. 

 

* Add baking soda within the batter and blend nicely. Pour the batter within the dhokla pan and steam for 15-20 minutes till completed. 

 

* Let the dhokla relaxation for an hour. Take away it from the pan. Cut it in cubes. 

 

* For the tadka, warmth oil in a pan. 

 

* Once the oil is sizzling, add mustard seeds and curry leaves 

 

* Add salt, water, sugar, lemon juice and inexperienced chilli within the tadka and convey the combination to a boil. 

 

* Pour the tadka over the dhokla. 

 

* Serve with green chutney. 

 

5. Rooster stir fry with greens ( Method ) 

 

* Warm the pan add oil saute the hen then provide greens in it. 

 

* Add hen inventory in it then add soya sauce 

 

* Then little thicken with starch 

 

* Add salt and pepper as per taste. 

 

6. Cauliflower Rice ( Method ) 

 

* Wash and dry cauliflower. Lower into 1-2 inch florest. Attempt to get them uniformly sized. Pulse 10-15 occasions till damaged down into rice sized items 

 

* Warmth coconut oil in a pan over medium warmth. Add riced cauliflower, salt and brown sugar to the pan
