India crush Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the 1st ODI

India is now leading the series by 1-0

India defeated Sri Lanka in the 1st T-20. Batting first India scored a total of 199/2 in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan scored his career’s best figure in T-20I. He scored 89 runs in 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer helped India in getting to a huge total as he contributed 57 runs. Rohit Sharma also got 44 off 32 balls.

Ishan Kishan had 10 fours and three sixes in his innings while Iyer hit five fours and two sixes.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma became the highest run scorer in T-20I. He needed 37 runs to surpass the likes of Virat Kohli (3296) and Martin Guptil (3299) and Rohit scored 44 runs in the first T20I game to become the highest run-scorer in the format.

Unfortunately for the Indian skipper, he was dismissed by Lahiru Kumara soon after he achieved the historic milestone, but Sharma nonetheless has racked up 3307 runs in T20I cricket and still has a lot of time to score more runs in the format.

India even bowled brilliantly as they stopped the visitors from chasing the target. The Sri Lankan team was able to score 137 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the 1st wicket of Sri Lanka on the very first ball of the 2nd innings. Bhuvi took 2 wickets while he gave only 9 runs in his spell. Venkatesh Iyer took 2 wickets while giving 36 runs in his spell.

India will face Sri Lanka in the 2nd T-20I on 26th February 2022. After crushing Sri Lanka, India is now leading the 3 match series by 1-0.
