India Logs 2,706 New Covid Cases

India on Monday reported at least 2,706 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,55,749. The active cases also increased to 17,698 in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

 

The death count climbed to 5,24,611 with 25 fresh fatalities.


The active cases comprise 0.04 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.


An increase of 779 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in 24 hours.


The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.56 percent, according to the ministry.


India reported an increase of 611 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 17,698. The country is fifty-sixth among the most affected countries by active cases. On May 30, it added 2,706 cases to take its total caseload to 43,155,749. And, with 25 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524, 611, or 1.22 percent of total confirmed infections.


With 228,823 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on May 29, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,933,157,352. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,613,440 — or 98.75 percent of the total caseload — with 2,070 new cured cases being reported on May 30.
