India’s domestic boxing to begin next month with youth and junior nationals

The tournaments, pick-up events for the upcoming ASBC Youth and Junior Boxing Championships, will be held at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Sonepat.


The BFI announced on Saturday, that the national youth and junior boxing championships will take place after a year,  it would be held in the period between July 18-23, meanwhile, the third edition of junior boys national championships and the fourth edition of junior girls event will take place on July 26 to 31.Besides, In the tournament, the pickup events for the upcoming  ASBC Youth and Junior Boxing Championships will take place at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Sonepat.

In the statement of Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President Ajay Singh says, due to the pandemic, for the players, it has become very difficult as the tournament is taking place after a year. The participants include 34 state /UT units, including Ladakh, and Services Sports Control Board for the Nationals Championships.For the event more than 300 men and 200-plus women, boxers were expected.

Last year,the youth boxing nationals took place in June 2019 with Services Sports Control Board and Haryana came up with overall champions in men’s and women’s. In addition, Haryana state has topped in the junior women’s nationals, before the pandemic happened.
