India vs West Indies: Eden Gardens will have 75% attendance for the T20I series in Kolkata

CAB president Avishek Dalmiya thanked the West Bengal government

West Bengal has allowed the Eden Gardens to host the three-match T20I series between India and West Indies with 75 per cent stadium capacity during all the matches. The series will begin on 16 February.

The West Bengal government said that all indoor and outdoor activities can take place with 75 per cent capacity at the venue.

“All indoor and outdoor activities will be allowed with 75 per cent of the capacity of the venue,” the West Bengal government said.

The Kieron Pollard-led West Indies will play three ODIs in Ahmedabad beginning February 6 before coming to Kolkata for the T20I leg.

Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya thanked the West Bengal government for allowing fans to attend the T-20I series. Notably, Kolkata hosted the third T20I of New Zealand’s tour of India last year with Eden Gardens operating at 50 per cent capacity.

“We are thankful to the honourable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, chief secretary and Government of West Bengal for announcing a resumption of sporting activities as well as for allowing 75 per cent of the capacity of spectators back to the stadium," CAB president Avishek Dalmiya said in a statement.

“We feel that it will give a fresh lease of life to the sportspersons of the state."

“This time too, CAB is confident that it will be able to successfully host the three T20Is against the West Indies in a similar manner," Dalmiya added.

As per the original fixture, the West Indies were slated to play three ODIs in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata and three T20Is in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram.
