Indian Women cricket team to play ODI against South Africa

First ODI after the pandemic against South Africa

The series, hosted by Indian women cricketers, who are struggling to put together a team-friendly show will be proud to face South African women in the fifth and final One-Day International, on Wednesday. Blocking a convincing nine-wicket win in the second match, the Indian women fired in unison with one voice while the South Africans, who already won the series 3-1, did well as a team.

They played their first international series more than a year ago due to the COVID-19 epidemic when South Africa recently beat Pakistan 3-0 at home. The Indian team also missed the youthful Shafali Verma at the top of the order and the experienced Shikha Pandey in the bowling department.

India's spinners, Rajeshwari Gayakwad save (5 wickets in 4 matches), have been a huge drop in the slow lane and that has played a major role in the Indian series victory as South Africans chase 249 and 267 in third and fourth Matches respectively.

Leading footballer Poonam Yadav has not been able to hit a single belt in the four games she has played so far. It remains to be seen whether she will retain her place in the playoffs Wednesday. Veteran pacer player Jhulan Goswami has continued to be an Indian bowler as she has climbed the bowling alley with eight wickets in the three games, she has played but has not received much support from his teammates other than spinner Gayakwad. Goswami did not play in the fourth match.

Mithali Raj, who became India's first female cricketer and second in the world to reach 10,000 runs during the series, had 50, 36, and 45 in the three innings she has played so far.
