Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya pins Kazakhstan's Sanayev to storm into final, assured of at least a silver

Ravi trailed 2-9 in the beginning but soon he took over his opponent Nurislam with a double leg attack and pinned him down to emerge victorious.

Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya (57 kg) gave a stellar performance as he pinned Kazakhstan's Nurislam Sanayev and turned around the semifinal bout in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. He stormed into the final bout and will now compete against Zavur Uguev of ROC in Freestyle 57 kg for the title clash on Thursday.

Ravi trailed 2-9 in the beginning but later he took over his opponent Nurislam with a double leg attack and pinned him down to emerge victorious. With his grit and determination, Ravi achieved the impossible and turned the odds in his favour in the last one minute. The 23-year-old Dahiya has shown similar technical superiority in his previous bouts as well.

Mr Dahiya became the second Indian wrestler to qualify for the gold medal bout after Sushil Kumar, who had entered the final at the 2012 Olympic Games and had brought home silver. Sushil had also won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games and so far he is the only Indian wrestler with two individual Olympic medals.
