International Day of Happiness 2021

International Happiness Day

Surviving the day against all the odds, we often find ourselves at a spot where our heart craves for peace, comfort and happiness. Happiness is a subjective emotion which can mean different to different individuals. For some, being in the company of their loved ones and relishing the moments is solace from the tiring day, while for some, braving the challenges imposed by that tiring day brings enormous satisfaction. Loneliness might haunt some people but it is a way to self exploration and retrospection for others. This varying perception of happiness in today's hazy life actually distinguishes us from one another.

We are swinging in the cradle of stress, tension and competition, running the race of our lives just to outweigh others and rise to the pedestal that we dream of. But ever do we ask ourselves the question, "Are we happy"? I hope people will struggle to swap the positions of 'are' and 'we' in the above question to make it an assertion, highlighting our faith and interest in living more for someone, for ourselves and for the world out there screaming to call us on board with another opportunity to grab on. In today's materialistic lives, it is really difficult to be happy and make others happy. You may own a multi-storey enterprise, a 5BHK house, a fancy car that might raise some brows but do you really think, being surrounded by amenities and carrying loads of money in your pockets can make you happy? Well, this is a thought to ponder upon.

Happiness is beyond the dimensions of fantasies, desires and worldly luxuries. It is captured in little things of life. Helping an old lady crossing a busy road, feeding a stray dog, helping your mother with household chores, walking by the side of a beach with your partner, resting in the arms of your loved ones for hours, doing your best to achieve a goal, living the precious moments of life with friends and family, reading an evocative book, exploring your identity in this overly competitive and populated world and making your presence mattered, these are few instances from your daily life which are responsible for a vibrant stretch of smile on your face but you tend to ignore the significance of them in the rush to achieve something bigger lying at the eternity of your lives.

In the social circle, humans have a short life span. We often run after unimportant and material things, leaving behind the memories and warmth of ecstasy. Rather than lamenting over the shortcomings and unfulfilled desires let us try to be grateful for what we have as present is the only permanent thing in this otherwise transient world. Due to uneven distribution of resources, some people are even deprived of what we possess without gratitude. Every hope buds from a deep surge of optimism which guides our way in the times of despair and definitely celebrates our joy and contentment in times of happiness.

Definitely, it would be insane to expect sanity in our crazy lives but we should try to look for moments to be happy and rejoice the very existence of this world and us. People will give their level best to take you down, conquer your sunshine and make you feel miserable but it is us who are accountable for our contempt even if it is incited by them. Our positive mindset can dispel all the insecurities and tension tearing us apart and can hold up our shattered pieces. Let your spirit heal and set it free in the sky full of admiration and opportunities. We are definitely more than we perceive of ourselves and can get back at the world stronger and happier.
