International Flight ban Extended

Restriction On International Flights have been extended till end of the March

The restriction imposed on international flights have been extended till end of the March, aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA allegedly that on Friday. "The competent authority has further extended the validity of circular issued on the subject cited above regarding Scheduled International commercial passenger services to/from India till 2359 hours IST of 31st March, 2021," the aviation body stated.

The restrictions will not include international all-cargo operations and flights specially approved by the aviation gate-keepers. Aviation body also added in their statement that "However, International Scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis,”

The restrictions on international flights in the country were announced in March 2020 to check the transmission of the covid during the pandemic. Over the months, the Centre, which is the highest executive authority in matters related to the pandemic, has loosened restrictions in most of the sectors of the economy but not in the matter of international flight operations. The Centre government had allowed domestic flight operations later in 2020 but not International Flights till now.

In December last year, the Government imposed a ban on flights which arrived and departed from the United Kingdom over the highly contagious strain of third wave of covid in the European country. The ban was later repealed.
