International flights suspended till 31 December.

International flights suspended because of Rise In Covid Infection

International air travel has been suspended till 31 December in response to the fatal covid crisis, tightening its grip over the country. The Central government of India took a major step, by imposing restrictions on international flights to safeguard the well being of the country and world, obstructing the spread of virus to great extent. On Thursday, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved a new circular in this regard, extending the suspension of international flights other than exceptional purposes.

The flights scheduled for Vande Bharat mission and travel bubbles that India clustered with USA, UK, Germany and France will continue to operate unperturbed, transferring people eligible under the norms laid by the government to fly in or out of India. The suspension is not applied on international all-cargo operations.

The official circular read, "In partial modification of circular dated 26.06.2020, the competent authority has further extended the validity of circular issued on the subject cited above regarding scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India till 2359 hours (IST) of December 31, 2020." This circular is the persistence of previous orders of June 2020. The country or the world is not capable of shaping international travel amid such hazardous and unsafe circumstances laid by the pandemic.

The legal orders of suspension of international commercial flights to or from India since March 23 were intended to expire on November 30 before which the extension orders were forwarded to curb down doubts and uncertainties in this context. The flights approved by DGCA will be functioning on a case to case bias.

This was a necessary move in the right direction to combat the uncontrollable spread of coronavirus in the country. India is going through a hard time with the National Capital as the epicenter of widespread infection. Total Covid cases have crossed 92 lacs landmark with active cases accounting to 4,54,344. The steadily improving recovery rate is unable to compensate for the unregulated rise observed on the curve in fresh cases.
