IPL 2020 MI VS DC: Mumbai Indians again grabs the top position defeating Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets

MI defeated DC by 5 wickets

The neck to neck tight competition between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians evident on the points table was clearly manifested on the ground yesterday night. The tussle turned out to be overwhelming for Mumbaikers. Indians defeated Capitals by 5 wickets snatching the top spot from them leaving Delhites dejected.

The match started with Delhi Capitals winning the toss and opting to bat. They delivered a competitive run chase of 163 runs on the loss of 4 wickets in Sheikh Zayad Stadium. The performance of both the teams was commendable but MI outlived DC in both the departments.

Mumbai finished off the match with an amazing boundary. The victory can be laid undoubtedly on feet on Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav hitting quickfire half centuries each. Quinton (53 off 36 balls) and Yadav (53 off 32 balls) were the focus of the audience's applause due to their exceptional and memorable game, pushing DC's efforts in vain. Fans were reluctant to leave their seats witnessing each advancing moment. Quinton emerged as Man of the match for the night.

On the other hand, Krunal Pandya dismissed two wickets contributing to the win. Delhi's game was praiseworthy too. Shikhar Dhawan threatened with 69 runs off 52 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 42 off 33 balls. The efforts weren't pronounced enough to lead the game in their direction. Even after setting 163 run chase before MI, fifties from Kock and Yadav, phenomenal 28 from Kishan and good fielding captured the night from DC.

Mumbai Indians Skipper Rohit Sharma acknowledged the efforts of players and pointed to the areas that need improvement. He emphasized on the importance of sustained batsmen to finish the game. He said "The kind of cricket we are playing gives us a lot of confidence. It's important to have momentum with us, and it was a perfect day for us." Delhi's Skipper Shreyas Iyer stressed on improvement on fielding. Moreover he felt the void Rishabh Pant who had been sidelined for a week due to hamstring injury. It will be really interesting to see the scuffle between the top teams.
