IPL 2020 RR V/S KXIP: Rajasthan Royals enjoyed a 7 wicket win against Kings XI Punjab

RR defeated KXIP by 7 wickets

The 50th match of IPL marked a comma on the series of five consecutive wins for Kings XI Punjab. Rajasthan Royals shook Punjab and defeated them by 7 wickets. Both teams left no stone unturned to grab the win in their favour but at the end only one came out as victorious. This was a hard day for Punjab. This defeat can be a major setback at such a crucial time of qualification for playoffs. Any further defeat could make Punjab lose the chance by an inch to regret for.

The match was telecasted from Sheikh Zayad Stadium. The curtain lifted with Rajasthan winning the toss and choosing to bowl the field. Punjab who forwarded their steps to bat posted a target of 186 runs on loss of 4 wickets. The target appeared to be tough but Royals chased it before 20 overs, becoming the centre of lauds and support of fans.

The match wouldn't be such a success for Rajasthan without Ben Stokes who not only poured boundaries but also took 2 crucial wickets of Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul. He smashed a fiery 50 off 26 balls and was acknowledged as Man of the Match. During post match analysis he said, "Our current situation in the game urged me to force my efforts in all directions as we are currently hanging at a spot where we have nothing to lose. So, this is pleasing and I am happy with my team's performance." Sanju Samson followed the great lead hitting 48 runs 25 balls. Steve Smith (31 off 20) and Robin Uthappa (30 off 23) made a
significant contribution to the score.

Chris Gayle was one step away from hitting the century but he played flawlessly. He smashed 99 off 63 balls hitting six fours and 8 sixes. Still, his efforts went to vain when the end wasn't in their favour. Chris Bliss was fluttered brightly in the night sky. RR Skipper Steve Smith was happy with the team's performance and appreciated players for their praiseworthy game. If trends would be traced Rajasthan needs to put more efforts to reach the playoffs and this situation could turn the points table in yet another unexpected way.
