IPL 2022: Maharashtra to host 70 matches across four venues

IPL will begin from 2nd April 2022


The Indian Premier League schedule is not yet officially published by the BCCI( Board of Control for Cricket of India), but the 15th edition of the IPL is going to begin from 2nd April 2022 and will last up to 3rd June 2022.

This year the league has added two more new teams (Gujarat Titans and Lucknow SuperGiants). 15TH edition of IPL will now have 10 teams.

The matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League will be held in four venues across two cities -- Mumbai and Pune, according to a report.

While 55 matches will be held in Mumbai across three venues -- Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium, Pune's MCA International Stadium will play host to 15 games.

All the IPL teams are set to play four games each at the Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium and three apiece at Brabourne and Pune, according to the report.

The venues for the playoffs are also yet to be decided and a decision is expected to be taken in the IPL governing council meeting.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional men's Twenty20 cricket league, contested by ten teams based out of Ten Indian Cities. The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. It is usually held between March and May of every year and has an exclusive window in the ICC Future Tours Programme.
