Japan cheerleaders root for athletes as Tokyo Games set to open

Cheerleaders and Members from the All Japan Cheer Organization also took an initiative role in cheering up and welcoming the participants for Tokyo games ready to go.


As the Tokyo Olympic Games will begin from Thursday, Japanese cheerleaders danced with their pom-poms at the Tokyo train station welcoming and supporting Olympic athletes. Cheerleader Kumi Asazuma says, With all strength let’s support! as she welcomes people coming for the Olympics outside Shimbashi Station. The person from Squad members welcomes enthusiasm with their sign language in saying “To all athletes”, “Fight! With a cute image of them where it was written Tokyo 2020. In the hot temperature of 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) before 9 a.m In addition members of the All Japan Cheer Organization also took the initiative to cheer them.

"The situation has become worse in many ways due to the pandemic things have been delayed, but as the Tokyo Olympics will start from tomorrow onwards we like to show our love and support ",told Asazuma one of the performers in the station, adding many spectators would not able to watch this time for real but, people will be rooting, she added.

Besides, there was a national holiday on Thursday. People on the road stopped and watched cheerleaders dancing, which made them happy .  Okada, 45, a self-employed worker said, they are tying very hard in the middle of the pandemic so watching them makes me realize  to do my best also. Meanwhile ,some games from the Tokyo Olympics games like  softball and soccer were also started earlier this week on Wednesday .
