Karnataka Govt issues guidelines ahead of upcoming festivals

According to the guidelines, no cultural events will take place for the districts reporting positivity rate above 2%.


The Karnataka government has implemented new guidelines in wake of the upcoming festival, Ganesh Chaturthi.

As per the guidelines, the state government said that no cultural events will take place for the districts reporting positivity rate above 2%. Whereas for celebration and immersion people should not exceed more than 20. It banned processions with the idols as well. The state government has barred the distribution of food and prasad. It has also put a cap on the celebration till 9 pm. Night curfew in the state will continue as usual during the 5-day celebration.

A few days before, the state also issued a travel advisory in wake of Covid-19 and the rise in cases. Whereas Covid-19 cases in nearby state, Kerala are also increasing at a very fast rate. Earlier, around 65 Kerala students tested positive in Karnataka. Meanwhile, on Saturday the state reported 983 fresh cases of Covid-19 which took the tally to 2.95 million. The state logged 21 deaths which took the death toll to 37,401.
