Karnataka Mandates 7-Day Home Isolation

For Covid-Positive Cases in Karnataka

In Bengaluru, it is now mandatory for all individuals testing positive for Covid to observe a seven-day home isolation period, and symptomatic primary contacts are required to undergo testing.

The cabinet sub-committee on Covid-19, chaired by Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, made the decision during its Tuesday meeting, responding to the detection of the JN.1 sub-variant. Guidelines on this matter will be issued by the government soon.

On Tuesday, out of the 74 new reported cases, 57 were identified in Bengaluru, and the state recorded two Covid-related deaths.

Government and private company employees in home isolation will receive a seven-day leave entitlement. Medical professionals from UPHCs and Namma clinics will visit those under home isolation and in general ward Covid admissions. The aim is to conduct approximately 5,000 Covid tests daily.

As of now, there are no restrictions on New Year celebrations or inter-state travel. Masking is compulsory for senior citizens and individuals with comorbidities. Parents are advised not to send their children with symptoms of fever, cold, and cough to school until the symptoms subside.

Karnataka is set to receive 30,000 doses of Covid vaccines from the central government, and these will be distributed to taluk and district hospitals, according to sources.
