Karnataka to vaccinate all college students in 10 Days: Deputy CM


On Tuesday the Deputy CM Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana  said that it will vaccinate all college students within 10 days. Adding that said that, those who will be benefited under the priority Covid-19 vaccination includes students of polytechnic, ITI, degree, Engineering, medical, paramedical, diploma, medical diploma, students registered under Chief Minister's Skill Development Scheme and studying in university campuses. While addressing the media after conveying a meeting with the officials of the Department of Health and Medical education he said that "Vaccination drive for the higher education students has been initiated on (June 28) and 94,000 students have been jabbed on the first day."

Talking about the oxygen and keeping an eye on the upcoming third wave of Covid-19 he said, oxygen generation capacity will be enhanced by 400MT. This comprises 250MT in hospitals coming on the department of Health and remaining in the medical hospitals and private hospitals and also arrangements made by district commissioners under the Disaster Management Act.

Whereas, The State Health Minister K. Sudhakar said that" We will urge the Centre to allot more vaccines to the state for Inoculating a maximum number of people including senior citizens above 45 and those who are in 18 to 44 age group."

Meanwhile, According to the IANS report, Karnataka has been allotted only 60 lakh doses for July which will limit its vaccination drive to 2 lakh per day. whereas Sudhakar will fly to New Delhi next week to meet Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan officials for allocating more vaccines to Southern states.
