Kerala reports Covid-19 vaccination shortage

Kerala Covid-19 vaccination drive to be halted for few days, vaccine shortage.According to the data it said,13 out of 14 districts are out of Covid-19 vaccine stocks.


Kerala Health Minister, Veena George has alleged shortage of vaccines in the state.According to the data 13 out of 14 districts are out of Covid-19 vaccine stocks. As per the statement of Health Minister, "it seems there won't be any vaccination drive in the state for the next few days. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha do not have stock of covidshield  vaccine. The fresh lot of vaccines is expected to come on July 29. We have requested the Centre to give us more vaccines".   

He also said, "So far we have received around 1, 66,00, 000 doses of vaccine. We have administered more than 1,87,00,000 doses till now. This means that our rate of vaccination is beyond  hundred per cent and there is zero wastage. We have received 76% of the population over the age of 45 years of the first dose and almost 35% get both doses. Wayanad and Kasaragod, the vaccine rate of those above 45 years 100 per cent. Further also said, the Covid-19 cases in the state are under control. The number of daily cases remains high because of the large percentage of the susceptible population.

According to the Government data, the state has a total of 78,720 doses of vaccines on Monday evening. Only the Idukki district has 11,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. All other districts have run out of Covishied stocks. A total of 67,720 doses of the Covaxin vaccine are available in 12 districts barring Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
