KXIP V/S MI: Kings XI Punjab ruling the field, defeating Mumbai Indians after two super overs

IPL 2020 has been shrouded in excitement and thrill from the very first match. But this Sunday, the progression of both the matches took over the guts of fans as both matches, KKR V/S SRH and KXIP V/S MI ended on super overs. The latter was followed by two super over till the victory was stumbling in air but finally fell on Punjab's court. The day was pretty long for fans and players but this was worth remembering the weekend. The match between two ends of the points table suddenly brought life to the unexpected.

Mumbai has been beaten after a long time in this tournament by Punjab. KXIP ambushed the criticism directed towards them due to their unsatisfactory performance and gave their level best yesterday night. The curtain lifted with Mumbai Indians winning the toss and choosing to bat in Dubai International Stadium. They projected a score of 176 runs on loss of 6 wickets. The match gave a real hard time to the audience by roping them to their seats and sustaining the game with each progressing ball.

KXIP's Skipper, KL Rahul played wonderfully leaving the fans spell bound. His fierce batting smashed 77 runs of 51 balls and made him Man of the match. Chris Gayle and Pooran also took lead hitting 24 runs each. Arshdeep Singh and Muhammad Shami dismissed 2 wickets each and lighted the field with Punjab fires. Their efforts bewitched the supporters after a long time. The score got equalized for both the teams which resulted in a super over which eventually tied followed by another super over.

In the second Super Over, Mumbai batted first setting a target of 12 runs by grace of Kieron Pollard. On Punjab's side Chris Gayle (7 off 2 balls) and Mayank Agarwal (8 off 2 balls) took command. Due to jaw dropping symphony of fours and sixes by Gayle and Agarwal, KXIP won by hitting 15 runs. Quinton de Kock once again hit fifty from Mumbai's side but that didn't make much difference.

During the course of the match one couldn't have imagined this historic turn in the match leading to two super overs. But this is the glory of IPL that fans rejoice. Giving more stress to your adrenaline, get ready for tonight’s battle between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at 7:30 PM.
