Covid-19  cases are continuously creating worry, where Black fungus infection is also spreading its wings widely across several states of the Country. Some states are also preparing for the third wave of Covid-19 while others are fighting with black fungus. Amidst all this an announcement for the extension of lockdown in Karnataka has been done by the government. Karnataka Chief Minister YS Yediyurappa on Friday extended the lockdown statewide for another week till 7 June. Earlier the lockdown was in effect from 10 to 24th May which was again been extended due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

According to PTI, The Chief Minister said that "We have taken some decisions regarding the lockdown after discussing them with our senior Ministers, Chief Secretary and other officials. He also said that "Heeding to the suggestions of experts, we have decided to extend stringent restrictions from 24 May to June 7." In this phase of lockdown, there will be no restrictions on the interstate and intrastate movement of persons as permitted by the revised guidelines and there will be unrestricted and smooth movement of all types of goods, including empty goods vehicles. The state reported 32,218 fresh Covid-19  cases and fresh infection and 353 fatalities,  taking the total infection and deaths due to Covid-19  to 23,67,742 and 24,207 respectively.
