Lockdown in Puducherry gets Extended

Omicron Fear!


The union territory of Pondicherry has extended its Covid-19 led lockdown till January 2.



As per the information, the night curfew will be in force from 11 pm to 5 am every day. However, the night curfew has been relaxed completely on the eve of Christmas and New Year. Also, the information said, the night curfew will be relaxed on December 30, 31, and January 1 till 2 am in view of the beginning of New Year.



According to the release by SED, it said although the number of New Covid-19 cases was coming down in the union territory now, there was still a need to keep vigil to contain transmission of the virus and the lockdown has therefore been extended from midnight last till January 2.



Knowing about the things permitted:

·  Social, religious places and other places of worship would be permitted to remain open till 10 pm every day.

·  Churches will remain open till 10 pm on the eve of Christmas.

·  All worship places will reopen on a New Year and December 31.

·  Wedding celebrations are permitted

·  25 people at religious places will be allowed 

·  20 persons for the last right procedure are allowed 

·  Weddings are permitted with only 100 guests.

·  The shooting of TV serials is allowed subject to conditions that there should be a maximum of 100 people.

·  Cinemas and theaters would be permitted to function with full capacity up to 12:30 am with appropriate Covid behavior.



The Covid led New Variant Omicron is creating fear. Also, the arrival of the New Year and Christmas would create an increase in cases. Guidelines are implemented to curb the infection level in the state.
