Magh Mela: One Crore Devotees Likely To Take Dip In Ganga At Prayagraj

People have begun arriving in the site since Sunday!


On February 1, on the occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya' around one crore devotees are expected to take a holy dip in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati Rivers in Prayagraj.

 

According to the statement given by Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, who reviewed the preparation for the event and said Mauni Amavasya is a very important festival of Magh Mela and people from across the country come here to take a holy dip in the river.

 

On Monday He said, "Tomorrow one crore people are expected to take bath, adding he was satisfied with the arrangements made there for devotees. "Further, he said, the rate of infection in the state has come down from 20 percent to 4 percent.

 

As of today, the first dose of vaccine has been given to 99.5 percent of the people in the state while 69 percent of the people have been given the second dose too.

 

According to an official statement, it said that over 45 lakh people were estimated to take holy dip on Monday. The authorities said the people had begun arriving at the fair site since Sunday.

 

The administration has also made arrangements for the devotees. Around 3,209 institutions and caps in all these sectors can have easy access to bath at 12 ghats. Also, 50-bed hospital and 12 health camps named Ganga Triveni and 10 treatment centers have been set up ahead of the mela. 

 

According to the data, Prayagraj and Bijnor reported two deaths in the last 24 hours. Around 6,946 Covid patients have been recovered from the infection. The overall recovery stood at 19,41,506 in the state.
