190 cases have been reported from the same hostel of a school in Washim district.

Amid sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, 190 cases have been reported from the same hostel of a school in Washim district out of which 186 are students and four are teachers. Due to this the school has been declared as a containment zone. Most students hail from the two districts- Amravati and Yavatmal that have witnessed sudden increase in the number of cases in the past few weeks.

The BMC had ordered strict measures to be taken in order to curb the virus. Washim has been in the news over a large gathering near a temple on Tuesday in violation of Covid restrictions, reported NDTV. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray ordered action against those who broke rules and also asked for a report from the officials concerned.

Any kind of gathering, social, religious or political has been banned by the administration. The state can be placed under another lockdown if the cases keep increasing. Maharashtra reported 80 deaths on Wednesday while the number of cases reported are 21,21,119 so far.
