Maharashtra CM warns of lockdown in case of Covid-19 surge

Meanwhile, the Mumbai local will start its services on 15 August for the people who are vaccinated with both doses.


On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey said that the administration would impose a lockdown if the number of new infection cases rise in the state.

According to the statement, the Chief Minister said," other states are now seeing an increase in an outbreak. In case of an increase in the number of patients in the state, there will be a lockdown. " He added," Although relaxations in Covid-19  have been allowed in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the infection is still on the rise in some districts of the state like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Kolhapur, Satara, Ahmednagar, Beed, Pune, Sangli."

Talking about the vaccination, CM mentioned," The state has a huge vaccination capacity. We can vaccinate eight to ten lakh people a day, but given the limited availability of vaccines, the mask is our real protector today."

Meanwhile, the Mumbai local will start its services on 15 August for the people who are vaccinated with both doses. On Sunday Maharashtra reported 5,508 new COVID-19 cases which took the overall tally to 63,53,327 out of which 71,510 are active cases.
