Maharashtra Govt Announces Fresh Curbs

Omicron Alert!


On Thursday, the Maharashtra government announced fresh guidelines imposing restrictions in the state. The curbs were announced after the state witnessed a surge in the daily tally of Covid-19 infection as well as a surge in the cases of Omicron in the state. 

 

The Maharashtra government has also imposed section 144 in the state. According to the statement given in order, it says, "In case of marriages or any other social, political or religious event, the maximum number of attendees shall be restricted to 50 persons. The maximum number of attendees is restricted to 20 at funerals."

 

It also said, "In any other part of the state which are tourist spots that attract a large crowd of people such as beaches, open grounds, etc, the competent authority may, as deemed appropriate, impose section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973."


According to the information provided by the order it says, ``The order shall come into force, in the areas under the control of Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai from 00:00 Hrs of 30 December 2021 and will remain in force till 24 Hrs of 7 January 2022, unless withdrawn earlier."


Maharashtra during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic witnessed an incessant rise in the cases.

 

The cases were uncontrollable and we're at a peak. Maharashtra was among the worst-hit states across the country. Similarly, the scenario with the omicron variant is somehow the same.


As per the data given by municipal corporation greater Mumbai, it says On Thursday, Maharashtra reported 3,671 cases of Covid which took the overall tally to 11,360 in the state.
