Maharashtra issues guidelines; reopens cinema halls and auditoriums

Cinema halls and auditoriums will reopen from October 22 with 50 percent seating capacity.


As Covid-19 cases are declining, the states are relaxing their rules and issuing fresh guidelines ahead of upcoming festivals.

Maharashtra government relaxed previous Covid-19 guideline and issued a new guideline by opening cinema halls and auditoriums from October 22 with 50 percent seating capacity. However, this is only applicable to those who are vaccinated and they will have to show their vaccination certificate as well. Aarogya setu app is mandatory to show "safe" status.

The guideline also mentions that entry inside the mall is restricted and only fully vaccinated people can get inside. Whereas cinema halls in the containment zones are not permitted to operate yet.

As per the report the state reported 2,069 cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday and 43 fatalities which took the death toll to 139,621. The Covid-19 cases in the state were at its peak during the deadly second wave and Maharashtra was among the worst-hit states with Covid-19.
