Maharashtra: Man dies after taking second Covid vaccine dose

Reportedly, Mr Kirdat fainted in the observation room around 15 minutes after taking the dose.

Sukhdev Kirdat from Bhiwandi in Thane district of Maharashtra died on Tuesday shortly after taking the second dose of Covid vaccine. The 45-year-old fainted in an observation room around 15 minutes after taking the second dose, reported NDTV. Mr Kirdat who worked as a driver for an eye specialist was taken to the Indira Gandhi memorial hospital after he collapsed but was declared dead.

According to the doctors, the cause of his death is not known yet and the reason may be clear after the post mortem is done. Mr Kirdat got his first jab on January 28 as a health worker. "He took his first dose a month back and there was no problem. There was full check-up before this dose. We found out that he had blood pressure for many years. There were symptoms like swelling of feet. But here his BP was normal and oxygen was also normal," said KR Kharat, a doctor at the hospital.

The doctor added that right now it is difficult to say what caused the death. People above the age of 60 and those over 45 with comorbidities are being vaccinated throughout the country in the second round of inoculations.
