Manipur imposes lockdown for 10 days, Amid a spike in Delta Variant cases.Only Essential services including medical, Covid-19 vaccination will be permitted during the period.


On Friday, the Manipur Government imposed a complete lockdown in the state for 10 days from Sunday (July 18) amid a surge in Delta Variant cases.

The State Government order said "With the wide prevalence of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in Manipur, there is no need to take stringent measures to break the chain of transmission. Therefore, the State Government has decided to declare a total curfew from July 18 for 10 days. The order also mentions," only essential activities related to vaccination, Covid testing, medical services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities would be allowed." Meanwhile, only Essential services including medical service, Covid-19 vaccination will be permitted during the period.

According to the tweet by N.Biren Singh, "Given the Covid-19 situation in the state, there will be a strict curfew from 18 to 28 July. All institutions, except the essential services, will remain closed. Further, only the people coming out for vaccination and testing will be permitted to venture out."
