On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the Covid-19 situation of eight northeastern states and expressed concern over crowds without face masks.

While addressing, PM Modi said to all the Chief Ministers that the Covid-19 situation is worrisome in some districts and needs to be on alert for the spread of deadly infection. He said," it is true that tourism, business and business have been greatly  affected due to covid-19, but today I will say that it is not okay to have huge crowds at the markets or in hill station without masks." He also called for greater emphasis on micro containment zones and said that everyone needs to work together to stop the third wave of covid-19.

He also said to Chief Ministers that we need to keep an eye on each Covid-19 variant. Prevention and treatment are very important in such dynamic situations. Meanwhile, the  Northeast region is seeing a rise in number of infections unlike the nationwide trend.
