Mega Covid-19 vaccination drive in Lucknow aims to administer 1 lakh jabs today

Special vaccination camps have been organised at religious places of various faiths in the city to give a boost to the drive against Covid-19.


Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, carried out a mega vaccination drive on Monday to administer 1 lakh jabs during the day. Special vaccination camps have been organised at religious places of various faiths in the city to give a boost to the drive against Covid-19. 

According to the statement, District Immunisation Officer Dr MK Singh told IANS, "As many as 160 vaccination sites have been made in which 461 booths will carry out the drive. Of the total sites, 104 will be special camps that are also known as Workplace Covid Vaccination Centres. These camps will be organised at religious places, government offices, residential apartments, schools and colleges." He added, "Walk-in registration facility will be available to those who are unable to book a slot in advance. These people will have to produce a government recognised photo ID proof at the centre. While 40 per cent of the doses will be reserved for the walk-in category, 60 per cent of shots will be given to those who book slots online."

Whereas Chief Medical Officer [CMO] Lucknow, Dr Manoj Agarwal said, “We aim to administer over one lakh doses during the day. In all, 250 doses of the vaccine will be available at each booth.”

Amid the fear of the third wave of Covid-19, many other states have started vaccination drives and new guidelines have been implemented to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
