MeT dept issues orange alert for heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh

The MeT department said that there are chances of the bad weather conditions to last in the state till July 22.


The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued an orange alert in eight districts of Himachal Pradesh. The MeT has forecast heavy rain in these districts, Kangra, Mandi, Chamba, Bilaspur, Solan, Sirmaur, Kullu, and Shimla from July 18 to July 20, reported NDTV. The department has also issued a yellow alert for Una district. 

The Meteorological Department also said that there are chances of the bad weather conditions to last in the state till July 22. The water level in several small streams has increased due to heavy rainfall which the state has been receiving over the past few days. On Monday, incessant rains had triggered cloudbursts and flash floods in Bhagsu Nag area of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. A cloudburst was also reported in the Kangra district, which is 58 kms from Dharamshala.
