Nirmal Kaur dies due to Covid related complications


Sprint legend Milkha Singh's wife Nirmal Kaur, who was Former Indian women volleyball team captain, passed away due to complications related to COVID-19. She was admitted in Fortis hospital, Mohali on May 26, two days after Milkha was admitted to the same facility due to COVID--19 pandemic

She contracted the infection last month and one of her family member stated that "We are deeply saddened to inform you that Mrs Nirmal Milkha Singh passed away after a valiant battle against COVID at 4 PM today," it was further added in the statement that "A back bone of the Milkha Family, she was 85 years old. It is tragic that the Flying Sikh Milkha Singh ji could not attend the cremation which was conducted this evening itself as he is still in the ICU (of PGIMER in Chandigarh) himself." 

 
Aged 85, Mrs. Kaur is survived by her husband,  one son and three daughters.
 
Indian Former sprinter Milkha Singh was discharged on the request of the family a week later and he recovery was soon but Nirmal remained at the hospital, batting the dreaded infection, then Milkha was later hospitalised to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of PGIMER here and he is currently on improving stage "stable and continues to improve" as per the sources.
