Mumbai and Pune trains cancelled

Owing to blocks for infrastructure work at Badnera on the Bhusaval division several trains are cancelled

Central Railway cancelled 13 mail or express trains to Mumbai and Pune from October 27-30. Six trains between Kacheguda- Narkhed -Kacheguda, Amravati- Tirupati- Amravati, Amravati- Surat- Amravati have been shot-terminated by the railways. The trains have been cancelled owing to the blocks for infrastructure work at Badnera on the Bhusaval division.

Non-interlocking work in connection to merging up and down goods cabin to be undertaken by Central Railway, at Badnera route relay interlocking (RRI) and for providing connectivity to a wagon repair workshop. There will also be a speed restriction of 30kmph up to 4km in the up and down direction till the work is completed. The trains that have been cancelled are drawing packed houses between Nagpur-Mumbai -Nagpur and Pune-Nagpur-Pune and also have a waiting list, said the officials since it is Diwali season.

“Considering 1,200 passengers travelling aboard one train, at least 15,000 passengers will be affected due to 13 trains that have been cancelled. These passengers will have to pay through the nose as private bus operators are also charging around Rs 3,000 for one-side fare,” said Rail Yatri Sangh (RYS) president Brij Bhushan. He further slammed the railways for causing this inconvenience for the people especially those who had booked the tickets in advance.
